If You Are A Patient
Your doctor has decided to continue your IV medication at home. While you may have many questions — rest assured CSI is there to help you every step of the way.

What Is Home IV Therapy

Home IV therapy (also referred to as home infusion therapy) is having your medication administered through the vein (intravenously) in a home setting. Your IV medication is needed because it is more effective to meet your needs than taking the medicine by mouth. It may also be because you cannot take the medicine by mouth. Also, the equipment may be different from the hospital, but it is easy to use. Your home care nurse, doctor and CSI will be working together to help you.

What To Expect
  • The discharge planner will make all the needed arrangements
with CSI, your doctor, your home care nurse and your insurance.

  • Before you go home, CSI will call and let you know what time
we will deliver your IV supplies to your home and when the
nurse will make her first visit to your home.

  • When we deliver to your home, it will be in an unmarked van to protect your privacy. We will design an “easy to use” method to receive these therapies, based on your need. Remember, you can always ask how we can help. The home care nurse will tell you when and how often she will visit.

  • CSI will work very closely with you, your home care nurse and your doctor to be sure you have all the needed supplies and support to be comfortable with your IV therapy at home.

  • Remember, most patients become very comfortable with their home IV and recuperate better and faster at home. We are always here to help you—so call us if you have any questions at any time 24 hours a day!

Method of IV Administration

Administering home IV therapy is relatively easy. Below are the three most common types.

  • Syringe – For administration of your medication or flushing solution.

  • Gravity – The method most commonly used in hospitals. The medication will drip into your IV line via gravity.

  • Pump – Used for medications given frequently or continuously. It is the size of a large calculator and may be able to be worn in a “fanny pack.”

CSI is a leader and innovator in home infusion providing services to patients since 1988. We are proud that 99% of our patients say they would use CSI again.

Thank you for choosing CSI.
